about us.
Founded in early 2016, the Ayurveda Association of Wisconsin is a grassroots organization that brings Ayurveda professionals and lovers of Ayurveda together into one group. With the help of a handful of dedicated people, AAW was born.
Our mission is to support a state-wide community rooted in Ayurveda by providing education, connection, and resources. We are committed to serving both the professionals of Ayurveda and those interested in learning Ayurveda on their healing path.
Our vision is to build and promote public awareness, education, and recognition of Ayurveda, its principles, benefits, and practices as a system of healing that honors the connection of mind, body, and spirit.
The AAW is a recognized and registered 501c3 non-profit organization.

What is Ayurveda?
Definition
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word has two roots to understand its meaning. The word Ayur means life and longevity; the word Veda means pure knowledge. Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old traditional system of holistic examination and healthy lifestyle practices.

Ancient Science
The Vedas are humankind’s earliest volumes of written texts. Ayurveda has been documented in detail in four of them: ArthavaVeda, Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya texts.

Principles
Ayurveda teaches us to follow the natural cycle of the Sun and Moon, seasonal changes, and the five elements that create all of life. Striving to establish balance in the mind, body, and soul, Ayurveda is a system that also connects us with the cosmos.

Practices
Ayurveda is a practice that permeates every aspect of your life, should you choose to incorporate it. Daily lifestyle practices, positive food choices, even exercise habits are all included in the teachings of Ayurveda, and it is commonly called the science of living.

Our focus is love.
